Meta Report: May 8th, 2017

Welcome to the 2nd edition of the Meta Report! Again, this is not a Tier List. This report is based on the Defense teams used on the 3V3 arena; as such, it only shows how much each pilot is used in this particular PVP mode. However, you can safely assume that the most popular pilots in this mode will also be showing up a lot in standard Arena and in Conquest Battle, making it a very useful data dump to know what you will be facing. Pilots at the top of this list are solid picks if you need to improve your PVP game, in any mode.

The data was obtained in the Global Server 1 between May 1st and May 8th. While I expect it to be the same on other Global servers, the Korea servers have three extra pilots that could certainly create a different meta. I do not have a high level account in a Korea server that I could use to gather the data I need to produce a proper meta report for it. If you have such an account and are willing to use it to gather the data I need, contact me on Reddit.

The report is divided in three parts: Rank 1000, Rank 100 and Rank 30. While every pilot is seen in Rank 1000 in a way or another, Rank 30 is a lot more focused and sees VIP12 pilots in greater numbers; though they most certainly don't take over the top spots.

Overall Pilot Rankings

The following tables show how popular the pilots are overall, no matter what wave they're placed in. If you want to know what pilots are worth obtaining and leveling for PVP, this is your list.

The 15 most used pilots in Rank 30 have remained constant, with just a bit of shuffling around. Bibi Olin was on the Carnival the week before, and everybody who wasn't using her is doing it now. Liu Xiao Xi was in the Floating Shop last week, increasing her popularity considerably. But by far the biggest winner was Petra Strykova, who jumped almost 16% in popularity, thanks to her random silences turning sure loses into ridiculous wins.

Only the top 15 pilots are shown by default. Click here to show all of them.

Wave 1

For the most part, teams in Wave 1 see little diversity. Bibi Olin, Jiang Lun mei, Enomoto Tsubasa and Jung E-young vastly outnumber other lineups, with the fifth spot going to some form of aggro. On Rank 30, Liu Xiao Yi and Petra Strykova have made great gains and are close to becoming staples.

Wave 2

This week, Enomoto Tsubasa saw a big drop in Wave 2 teams, as did Victoria and EL. More players are placing Bibi Olin and Petra Stryvoka in Wave 2, and experimenting with Betty Abigail.

Wave 3

Min You-hyun, Rose Ludlum and Tanya Brown are finding a comfortable home in Wave 3, being good units but not good enough for the first and second wave. While still very diverse, there is a clear preference for Rachel Stewart or Elin Miller in the tank position, with Min You-hyun, Tanya Brown and Ilayda Mahn dishing out damage, and Rose Ludlum healing.

Final Thoughts

Ooparts do not currently apply to the defense team. You should not waste resources in giving Ooparts to the pilots you are using only to defend in Arena, since they always defend without any. This means that attacking teams always have an edge over the Defender team, as you can outfit them with the right Ooparts to counter their team members and formations, and don't have to worry about a weak unit being far stronger than expected due to Ooparts.
